The Posturography or Balance test

Researchers have shown that people with generally poor functioning of the cerebellum as well as people with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and Aspergers have relatively poor balance control systems.

As our neurological systems develop we develop balance systems which are controlled more automatically. This normal development requires the cerebellum to be functioning very efficiently. Eventually the control of these systems becomes totally subconscious.

The cerebellum is known to integrate the various senses used for controlling balance and activates to adjust our posture if disturbed.

The balance or posturography test is used by Dore as one of a number of different assessments to examine the function of the cerebellum in our clients. It is also used every few weeks to help assess progress on the programme (reflecting improved cerebellum performance) and prescription of new exercises.
